This project focused on the modern renovation of a historic building, blending advanced technology with the homeowner’s deep passion for koi carp. A prominent figure in the social media marketing world, the client envisioned a space that combined architectural innovation with a strong personal narrative. The architectural and functional upgrade prioritized sustainability, integrating smart home systems tailored to contemporary needs—without severing ties with tradition. A defining element of the design is the symbolic journey of the koi carp: swimming from the outdoor pond into the home, their colorful presence passes beneath a suspended staircase that connects the two floors. The upper level was engineered to appear as if it floats within the space, thanks to a cutting-edge structural solution that removed the need for vertical supports. This sense of lightness is further amplified by a structural glass corridor, seamlessly embedded within the walls and ceiling—without any visible metal framework. This choice created a visual continuity from the ground floor to the exposed white beams of the roof, enhancing spatial openness and brightness. On the exterior, the building honors the materials and tones of the original structure. A modern extension hosts the upper floor and a generous terrace designed for relaxation and social moments. Complete with a jacuzzi and a barbecue area, the terrace becomes the ideal stage for gatherings, entertainment, and leisure.
